VEIN TREATMENTS FOR MINNESOTA (MINNEAPOLIS / ST. PAUL) & SURROUNDING STATES NORTH DAKOTA, WISCONSIN, IOWA)

The development of varicose veins on the leg, or unwanted surface veins anywhere on the face, neck or body, tends to confront many of us during our lifetime. Having normal appearing legs without varicose veins, and unblemished skin without unwanted surface veins or spider veins, is what most of us want. Most of us wish to avoid surgically invasive procedures such as surgical vein stripping, especially if there are proven alternatives that are effective, minimally invasive, and do not involve cutting. To deal with varicose veins and unwanted surface veins, innovative, proven treatments are provided at Hogue Vein Institute (if they are for medical reasons, such as with symptomatic varicose veins) and Hogue Cosmetic Surgery (if they are entirely for cosmetic reasons, such as with spider veins, rosacea, unwanted surface veins).

Symptomatic varicose veins on the leg constitutes a medically necessary condition that may be a covered benefit of Medicare and private insurance, depending on the specific coverage criteria outlined in the insurer’s Summary Plan Document. For this reason, all new patients with leg vein concerns are evaluated at Hogue Vein Institute to receive either a FREE vein screening or a comprehensive evaluation that includes a venous duplex ultrasound of the leg veins. The decision of whether to have an initial FREE vein screening or instead proceed directly to a formal vein consultation (submitted to insurance) depends on whether signs and symptoms of varicose veins on the leg are present to warrant evaluation of a medical vein condition. Insurance will be billed in the case of a medically necessary vein treatment.

If the vein evaluation finds that no medical vein condition exists, or if the new patient presents for a vein concern not involving the legs, then the patient is referred to Hogue Cosmetic Surgery for elective cosmetic vein treatment to be done entirely for cosmetic reasons. Payment for an elective cosmetic vein treatment is required at time of service.
